In 1970, Candlestock began as a small, one-room candle store at the height of Woodstock’s popularity as an alternative cultural center. Barely noticed by most people was a small drip candle standing lit in a corner. More than thirty years later, people are still visiting Woodstock for artistic stimulation and Candlestock has grown into a business beloved by people the world over. Still in the corner stands the same drip candle, now a drip Mountain, towering nearly eight feet tall! The store, it’s owners and employees, and the Mountain have greeted thousands of customers and have seen the world change, and to some degree stay the same, over the years.
